Pantone has once again made its annual prediction for the on-trend hue for the design world, this time by selecting Peach Fuzz as its 2024 Color of the Year. Announced during Miami Art Week, this choice marks a significant shift from the bold colors of recent years to a gentler hue. Officially named PANTONE 13-1023 TCX, Peach Fuzz offers a more comforting choice than its vibrant predecessor, “Viva Magenta.”
This year’s selection is the 25th time that Pantone has selected its Color of the Year. The program was inaugurated by the 1999 Color of the Year, Cerulean Blue. The selection also underscores a growing movement towards more neutral tones, evident in fashion runways and product designs.
“A cozy peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz brings belonging, inspires recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing, conjuring up an air of calm, offering us a space to be, feel, and heal and to flourish from whether spending time with others or taking the time to enjoy a moment by ourselves,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute.
The hue also resonates with the wellness industry’s emphasis on care and community, according to Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, who said that Peach Fuzz is a color “whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion and whose cozy sensibility brings people together and enriches the soul.”
Throughout 2023, celebrities such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the Oscars and Uma Thurman at the 2023 Women Making History Awards have adorned peach-colored outfits.
“Drawing comfort from PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our wellbeing,” Eiseman added. “An idea as much as a feeling, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth.”
