On January 29th, Jacquemes debuted its spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence, France. The collection, titled “Les Sculptures,” paid homage to the celebrated Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti. At the venue, guests—including Julia Roberts, Jack Harlow, and PinkPantheress—were surrounded by the works of Giacometti, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, and Georges Braque.
Framing the runway were some of Giacometti’s most recognizable sculptures, including Femme Cuillère (Spoon Woman) (1926–27), their elongated bronze forms setting the tone for the garments featured on the runway. A recurring motif throughout the collection was the exaggerated, rounded shoulder line—a clear tribute to Giacometti’s stylized figures.
The collection also drew inspiration from another notable artist, Francis Bacon—specifically through an asymmetrical pilot’s jacket reminiscent of one in which Bacon was once photographed.
