Christie’s “Post-War to Present” auction totaled $21.5 million in New York on Wednesday night,
sale in New York. The sale was led by an untitled 1970 oil on paper work by Cy Twombly, which was part of the collection of Shirley Ross Davis.
The top five lots from the sale were as follows:
- Cy Twombly’s Untitled (Roman Note) (1970) sold for $1.6 million.
- Alma Thomas’s Pink of Spring (1973) sold for $1.4 million.
- Jonas Wood’s SK Dino Pot #2 (2015) sold for $756,000.
- George Condo’s The Return of Client No. 9 (2008) sold for $693,000.
- Kenneth Noland’s Untitled (1965) sold for $567,000.
The sale also yielded two new auction records for the following artists:
- Igshaan Adams, for Kicking Dust (2020) which sold for $100,800, more than 200% low estimate of $40,000.
Lois Dodd, for Green Door and Bed (1994), which sold for $239,400, nearly four times its low estimate of $60,000.
