Venus Williams is partnering with the Carnegie Museum of Art to host a podcast about the environment and art, coinciding with the museum’s upcoming “Widening the Lens: Photography, Ecology, and the Contemporary Landscape” exhibition. The star tennis player and avid art collector will host a six-episode podcast series, beginning on June 26th, that will address urgent eco-focused themes explored in contemporary photography.

On view from May 11, 2024 through January 12, 2025, “Widening the Lens” will feature an exhibition of approximately 100 works by 19 artists. The podcast series will feature discussions with 20 prominent artists, writers, and scholars, many of whom will show works at the museum, including Sam Contis, Dionne Lee, and Sky Hopinka.

“The participating artists and thinkers you'll hear on the ‘Widening the Lens’ podcast reflect diverse, global perspectives and a vast range of backgrounds and experiences,” said Williams. “I am proud to help amplify their voices as they prompt us to consider new and alternative ways of relating to our landscapes through photography.”

This project marks the fourth iteration of the Hillman Photography Initiative at the Carnegie Museum of Art, a series launched to foster new critical conversations about photography and art. This year’s exhibition will also feature names at every stage of their careers, including established artist Tomás Saraceno and rising photographer David O. Alekhuogie. Additionally, the project will be accompanied by an illustrated publication and an extensive public program.
