Amsterdam-based artist Nora Turato, recognized for her insightful performances dissecting language, is now represented by Sprüth Magers in partnership with LambdaLambdaLambda and Galerie Gregor Staiger. In Berlin, Sprüth Magers is currently exhibiting her inaugural solo show, “NOT YOUR USUAL SELF?”
Born in 1991 in Zagreb, Croatia, Turato creates work from performance to video and graphic design that interrogates the transformative power and transience of words and communication. Drawing inspiration from present-day vernacular and the public zeitgeist, she offers a commentary on the modern information age, weaving text into a compelling visual narrative.
In recent years, Turato has showcased her distinctive works internationally, including solo exhibitions at notable institutions like The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and Secession in Vienna. Come February 2024, coinciding with Frieze Los Angeles, Sprüth Magers’s Los Angeles location will host a comprehensive solo show by Turato, marking her LA debut.
Her newest performance, Cue The Sun, will premier during this year’s Performa Biennial in New York City on November 9th.
