United States Artists announced its 2024 USA Fellows, awarding 60 artists and collectives across 10 creative disciplines. Hailing from 22 states and Puerto Rico, the recipients will each receive a $50,000 unrestricted cash award.
The fellowship honors artists from various disciplines, including architecture & design, craft, dance, film, media, music, theater & performance, traditional arts, visual art, and writing. In the visual arts category, United States Artists selected six artists: Sofía Gallisá Muriente, Trisha Baga, EJ Hill, Fronterizx Collective (Gabriela Muñoz and M. Jenea Sanchez), New Red Order (Adam Khalil, Jackson Polys, Zack Khalil), and María Magdalena Campos-Pons (who recently received a MacArthur “genius grant”).
The craft category also honored seven artists, including ceramicist Linda Nguyen Lopez, textile artist John Paul Morabito, and glass artist Helen Lee.
“With this year’s cohort of USA Fellows, we are thrilled to support a group of artists who, in their diverse approaches and contexts, offer invaluable modes of healing, expression, and collaboration,” said Judilee Reed, president and CEO of United States Artists. “Together, they invite us to join them in imagining endless possibilities for ourselves and our communities.”
The United States Artist’s Fellowship program, launched in 2006, has distributed over $41 million to more than 850 creative practitioners. Past fellows include Howardena Pindell, Claudia Rankine, and Martha Rosler.
