Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel announces representation of Tadáskía. https://ift.tt/Hj9RwbG

Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel has announced it will represent the Rio de Janeiro–born multidisciplinary artist Tadáskía. A notable breakout at the 35th São Paulo Bienal, Tadáskía works with drawings, installations, textiles, and photography to create topographical exhibitions designed to evoke and narrate the experience of the Black diaspora in Brazil. The gallery will also feature two of her works at its Paris+ par Art Basel booth this month.

Born in 1993, Tadáskía is presenting a grand installation at the 35th São Paulo Bienal, comprising books with loose pages, wall interventions, and uniquely crafted sculptures. In the middle of the room, there are three sculptures crafted from bamboo, cattail, and straw. Each sculpture features a plate with different items, including a stitched egg, an assortment of fruits, and various shades of face powder.

Around the gallery, Tadáskía creates a large-scale drawing made from pastels and charcoal. In addition to her sculptures and drawings, the artist presents books of loose pages, including Ave preta mística (2022). Here, she intertwines dreamlike narratives and vibrant illustrations, paying homage to black feminist writer Audre Lorde in her bilingual texts.

Following solo exhibitions at Madragoa in Lisbon and Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona earlier this year, Tadáskía’s new relationship with Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel confirms her prominence in the global art scene.
