Lehmann Maupin announced today the promotion of Isabella Kairis Icoz to partner, based in London. The decision comes as the gallery is working to build on its presence in London, strengthen its ties to the U.K. and Europe, and explore new opportunities for its artists. Under Icoz’s direction, Lehmann Maupin will open a new pop-up location next year on Cork Street in Mayfair—the city’s most concentrated gallery hub—deepening the gallery’s commitment to London’s art scene. The gallery will continue its programming at its current London location on Cromwell Place, which is currently featuring a two-person show of Kader Attia and Mandy El-Sayegh.

Icoz has worked at Lehmann Maupin for 13 years, most recently as senior director in London, and led its efforts to open the Cromwell Place gallery in 2020. She’s responsible for the U.K. debuts of several artists, including Arcmanoro Niles and Billie Zangewa, as well as Nari Ward whose forthcoming show at the London gallery will open on November 15th.

As partner, Icoz will be heading up programming, sales, and curatorial endeavors in Europe, working in collaboration with gallery cofounders Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin, and fellow partners Carla Camacho and Jessica Kreps. Her role will include overseeing the gallery’s efforts at European art fairs like Frieze London and Art Basel, as well as working with the region’s museums, biennials, and institutions to feature the gallery’s artists. There are several prominent London-based artists on the Lehmann Maupin roster, including Billy Childish, El-Sayegh, Gilbert & George, Shirazeh Houshiary, Chantal Joffe, and Do Ho Suh.
